How Our Scholarships Work

At Dr. LocGenie Academy Foundation, scholarships open the door for aspiring locticians from under-resourced communities to gain life-changing training and employment opportunities.

Student Selection

Scholarships are awarded to motivated individuals who demonstrate passion for loc artistry but face financial barriers to training.

Full Program Access:

Recipients receive free or reduced tuition for courses such as Crochet 101, Starter Locs, and advanced techniques, along with mentorship and career guidance.

Tools & Supplies

Funds cover professional starter kits—including combs, crochet tools, clips, bonnets, dryers, and Dr. LocGenie’s signature loc-care products—so students can learn with the same tools they’ll use in real practice.

Employment Pathways

Scholarship funding also supports apprenticeships and training spaces at The Loc Bar, where students gain hands-on experience and transition into full-time employment.
